Hello Doctor,
I had unprotected sex on October 23rd, which was the same day my period ended. I took two Plan B pills right after. About six days later, I had what seemed like a normal period. Now, it's been about two weeks since that bleeding, and I'm noticing that my nipples are quite sensitive. My Flo app says my next period is expected in nine days. Should I be concerned about pregnancy, or could this just be a side effect of the pills?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
Plan B can cause hormonal changes that affect your cycle, leading to early or delayed periods, breast tenderness, and other symptoms. Your breast sensitivity is likely a side effect of the emergency contraception, but to rule out pregnancy, I recommend waiting a few days and taking a pregnancy test. If your period does not arrive as expected or you experience unusual symptoms like severe pain or prolonged bleeding, an ultrasound and a consultation with a doctor may be necessary for further evaluation.
Thanks
