Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I recently had a blood test, and my creatinine levels came back high. I've been exposed to ammonia at work and was wondering if this could be related. Can ammonia exposure cause high creatinine levels, or is it more likely due to something else? What steps should I take to address this?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

No, ammonia exposure is not typically associated with high creatinine levels. Creatinine levels are usually elevated due to kidney injury, dehydration, or other underlying conditions that affect kidney function. If you're concerned about your kidney health, it's important to consult with your healthcare provider for further evaluation and to determine the cause of the elevated creatinine levels. Proper hydration and addressing any kidney-related issues are essential steps for managing your health.

Thanks
