Hello Doctor,
Did my OBGYN intentionally deform my body? I had a C-section on December 14, 2019, and afterward, the area above my vagina appeared enlarged. While it reduced slightly after a week, I now have excess fat and loose skin hanging above my vulva, which looks unappealing. I doubt I will ever feel confident about my body unless I undergo a tummy tuck or liposuction to restore it. Is this a common occurrence among women? I could not find any information online. Also, the doctor's office is filled with posters and pamphlets about laser liposuction. Is there any way I can regain a more normal appearance? I am only 20 years old.
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
First of all, it depends upon your weight to determine the best approach.
If your BMI is higher than normal, regular exercise and weight management are important.
However, if your BMI is normal or low, we can focus on more targeted treatments to address the loose skin and fat.
It is not uncommon for women to experience changes in the appearance of the body after a C-section, but the good news is that there are options available to help improve your confidence and appearance.
If exercise and lifestyle changes are not enough, we can explore non-surgical treatments or discuss potential surgical options based on your individual needs.
Thanks
