Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I have chronic inflammatory conditions, including Ulcerative Proctitis and Atrophic Gastritis, and underwent two LLETZ procedures last year for CIN3. Over the past year, my blood tests have shown a gradual increase in immature granulocytes, with my latest results showing IG at 0.09 thousand/µl (normal: 0-0.04) and IG% at 1.00% (normal: 0-0.5%). Given my history, could this indicate a serious or cancerous process, or is it more likely linked to my conditions or medications?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

Your rising immature granulocyte levels may be linked to chronic inflammation or medications, but persistent elevation should not be ignored. While mild increases can occur due to infections or stress, it’s important to rule out potential hematologic conditions. I strongly recommend consulting a hematologist for further evaluation, including additional blood tests or a bone marrow assessment if needed. If you experience symptoms like fatigue, bruising, or weight loss, seek medical attention promptly.

Thanks
