Hello Doctor,
I've been having a watery discharge with a strong, foul smell for the past few days. It’s unusual for me, and I also experience cramping from time to time. I’m worried if this could be an infection or something more serious. What could be causing this, and should I get checked?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
You should get a wet smear, a vaginal swab test, and a Pap smear to determine the cause of your symptoms. Watery discharge with a foul smell and cramping can indicate an infection, such as bacterial vaginosis, a sexually transmitted infection, or another underlying condition. Once the exact cause is identified, appropriate treatment can be started. If an infection is confirmed, your partner may also need treatment to prevent reinfection. I recommend consulting a doctor as soon as possible for further evaluation and management.
Thanks
