Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I have been dealing with chronic issues for years, including swelling. Recently, I've noticed my ears feeling clogged, and at first, I thought it was TMJ due to related issues, but it hasn’t helped. I also feel twitching around my TMJ joint, especially above my ears. I'm experiencing a burning sensation in my throat. What could this be?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

Based on your symptoms, it's possible that you might be dealing with otitis media, an infection in the middle ear, which could explain the sensation of ear clogging and discomfort. However, before considering antibiotics, I recommend having some laboratory tests to confirm the cause of your symptoms. The twitching around your TMJ joint and the burning sensation in your throat should also be evaluated by a healthcare professional for a more accurate diagnosis. I recommend scheduling a consultation with a doctor to explore your symptoms in greater detail and receive the appropriate treatment plan.

Thanks
