Hello Doctor,
About 7-8 years ago, I hit my head, and there’s still a bump on it. How can I cure this?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the response to your query below.
A bump or swelling that has persisted for several years following a head injury may indicate a chronic condition, such as a scalp hematoma or a sebaceous cyst. To properly diagnose and treat the issue, further evaluation is necessary. If the bump is painless, hasn’t changed in size, and isn’t accompanied by other symptoms, it may not be a serious concern. However, if you’ve noticed changes in the bump’s size, color, or texture, or if it’s causing discomfort, we should examine it as soon as possible.
In addition, it’s important to note that dermatologists typically focus on skin, hair, and nail conditions. If the bump is related to a past injury, it might be best to also consult with a neurologist or a specialist in head injuries, who could provide a more comprehensive evaluation.
Please make an appointment at your earliest convenience so we can further discuss your condition and the appropriate next steps. Looking forward to assisting you soon.
Thanks
