Hello Doctor!
I’ve had a burning sensation in my urethra for over a month, and it hasn’t improved. I also feel dull pain on the right side of my pubic area, between the base of my penis and the start of my groin. The pain builds up during the day and lasts until I sleep. I’ve tried resting and drinking more water, but the symptoms persist. I’m unsure of the cause and whether I need medical help. While I don’t have other major symptoms, the discomfort is affecting my daily routine, and I’m worried since it hasn’t gone away.
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
The symptoms you're experiencing—a burning sensation in the urethra and pain in the right pubic area—may indicate several conditions that require medical attention. Persistent symptoms like these should not be ignored, as early evaluation can help identify the issue and prevent complications. Here are some potential causes:
Urinary Tract Infection (UTI): Commonly causes burning during urination and pelvic pain. Look for symptoms like urgency, cloudy urine, or a foul smell.
Prostatitis: Inflammation of the prostate, common in men under 50, can cause groin discomfort and painful urination.
Kidney Stones: May cause pain that radiates to the groin, along with sharp back pain, nausea, and discolored urine.
Osteitis Pubis: Inflammation in the pubic joint, leading to sharp pain near the pubic bone, especially with movement.
Inguinal Hernia: Occurs when soft tissue pushes through the abdominal wall, causing groin pain, especially during lifting or straining.
Nerve Entrapment: A pinched nerve can cause burning sensations and pain radiating to the groin.
Your symptoms have lasted over a month and affect your daily life. A medical professional can conduct examinations and tests, such as a urine analysis or ultrasound, to identify the cause. Avoid Self-Diagnosis: Delaying care can be risky. Some conditions may worsen without treatment. Monitor Other Symptoms: Keep track of any new symptoms like fever or changes in urination, as these can help in diagnosis.
It’s crucial to seek medical help promptly. Early diagnosis and treatment can relieve discomfort and prevent complications.
Thanks.
