Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I have my foreskin intact, but I’ve noticed small, fracture-like cuts on it. When it's shrunk, I can pull it back, but when it's not, it's difficult to retract. It feels a bit uncomfortable, and I'm worried it might get worse. Can you please tell me what steps I should take to fix this? Are there any medications or treatments that can help?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

Your foreskin cuts may be due to dryness, irritation, or phimosis. Here’s what you can do:

1. Use a steroid cream (betamethasone/clobetasol) to reduce inflammation and improve flexibility.

2. Gently stretch the foreskin during warm baths—never force it.

3. Keep the area clean and moisturized with mild soap and petroleum jelly.

4. Avoid forceful retraction to prevent further injury.

5. See a doctor if it persists—recurrent issues may require medical treatment or minor procedures.

Topical treatments usually help, but a medical evaluation is best if symptoms continue.

Thanks
