Patient Question
Hello Doctor,
I noticed this growth on my left butt cheek that looks like a wart. I don't have a history of warts but am concerned. It's not close to my anus, and I had a pap smear test in March that came out negative. This bump came after that. I need some help; I'm going crazy.

Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr.Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
I understand your concern, and it’s good that you’re being vigilant about changes in your skin. Based on your description, it’s difficult to say for certain what this growth could be. It could be a variety of things such as a wart, a skin tag, a mole, a cyst, or something else. Here are some general guidelines:
- Observation: Keep an eye on the growth. Note any changes in size, color, shape, or symptoms such as itching, bleeding, or pain.
- Avoid Self-Removal: Do not attempt to remove or treat the growth yourself. This could lead to infection or scarring.
- Schedule an Appointment: It’s crucial that you schedule an appointment with a healthcare provider or dermatologist as soon as possible. They can examine the growth and may perform a biopsy if necessary to determine what it is.
- Stay Calm: I understand that this might be causing you stress, but try to stay calm. Many skin growths are benign and can be easily treated. Remember, it’s always better to get any new or changing skin growths checked out. While the internet can provide some general advice, it can’t replace a physical examination by a healthcare provider. Please follow up with a dermatologist to have this growth evaluated.
