Hello Doctor,
I keep failing hair follicle drug screens for high levels of methamphetamine. I have NEVER taken meth nor have I ever been around someone using meth. The only prescription I have had in the past six months is metformin. I am no longer taking metformin due to a major dietary change and have gotten my type two diabetes under control. What in the world could be causing the positive results?
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.
The following lifestyle changes may help prevent hair loss and could potentially impact your overall health, which may be relevant to your situation:
- Reduce stress by practicing meditation or yoga.
- Consider getting head massages to promote relaxation.
- Maintain a balanced diet rich in protein, as insufficient protein intake can affect hair growth.
- Avoid tight hairstyles and limit the use of heat-styling products, like curling irons.
- Brush your hair gently to avoid breakage.
- Taking vitamins and following a Mediterranean diet can also support hair health.
- You might want to explore low-level laser light therapy.
It's important to consult with a medical professional to investigate the cause of the unexpected drug test results, as there may be other factors at play.
Thanks
