Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

Recently, I was admitted to the hospital due to my hyperacidity, and the doctor diagnosed my illness as gastritis because I vomited more than ten times and even vomited blood. Now, I am feeling the pain in my stomach again because I ate fried fish for lunch and fried chicken for dinner. Additionally, I was feeling hungry a while ago but chose not to eat right away because I was very busy. So, right after eating dinner now, I am feeling the pain in my stomach again, same as before. Can anybody help me with some immediate remedy? I am at work now

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

Here are some tips for your diet to help minimize and prevent recurring attacks:

1. Avoid trigger foods that can irritate or trigger acid: spicy foods, caffeine, and greasy foods (such as processed meat, fast food, and fried foods).

2. Eat small, frequent meals (aim for 5-6 small portioned meals per day).

3. Try easy-to-digest foods, such as soft foods (e.g., mashed potatoes without adding butter, baked fish, cottage cheese with chopped strawberries).

4. Eat in an upright position and remain upright for 30-60 minutes after eating.

5. Eating on a regular schedule is a must. If you have limited time, try drinking meal replacements such as protein shakes slowly. However, in case your signs and symptoms persist or worsen, it is important to are trying to find clinical attention. Gastritis can sometimes lead to complications if not properly treated. If you're unable to find relief with these remedies or if you're experiencing severe symptoms, consider consulting with a healthcare professional for further evaluation and treatment..
