Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I have a small colored lesion on my lower abdomen. There is no pain and no itchiness. There is no pus or blood coming from the lesion. I have no other symptoms and no history of such lesions. It appeared sporadically and has been there for 2 months now. The size has slightly increased.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr.Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

It's important to properly evaluate any skin changes, particularly those that persist or increase in size over time, even without other symptoms. While it's difficult to make a definitive diagnosis based on a description alone, your lesion could potentially be a benign skin growth, such as a mole or seborrheic keratosis. However, it's crucial to rule out more serious conditions, such as skin cancer, which can sometimes present without pain or other symptoms.

I strongly recommend scheduling an appointment for a physical examination of the lesion. During the appointment, I can examine the lesion and may consider a biopsy or other diagnostic tests if necessary. This will help determine the nature of the lesion and guide the appropriate treatment.

In the meantime, avoid scratching or picking at the lesion, and protect it from sun exposure, which can exacerbate some skin conditions. Looking forward to assisting you further.

Thanks
