Patient Question

Hello Doctor,

I’ve been experiencing tingling or numbness in my hands and feet, muscle weakness, and occasional loss of coordination. Once, I woke up unable to move one side of my body, but it went away. My memory and focus have been poor, and I’ve been sleeping a lot more than usual, sometimes feeling like I could fall asleep suddenly. What could be causing this?

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to Dr. Galen. Please find the below response to your query.

1. Tingling sensations in the hands or feet are typically unrelated to sleepiness. Uncontrollable weakness, especially if it follows strong emotions like laughter or anger, could indicate specific neurological or muscular conditions. Sleepiness and difficulty staying awake might suggest a separate issue that needs further evaluation.

2. I recommend closely monitoring your symptoms and seeking a consultation for a detailed assessment. Understanding these patterns will help guide appropriate testing and treatment.

Thanks
